EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITY

Available for extra credit to my COM219 & COM392 students only (but anyone is encouraged to attend):

"One Man Up" is an 8-week discussion program addressing men's roles in ending violent relationships; it is sponsored by the Men's Initiative of the Women's Center of Greater Danbury. This program explores sexuality, relationships, and masculinity. There is a 90 minute get-together once a week (Wednesdays at 5:30pm in Higgins Annex 105C). This is not a lecture, but rather discussion & activities among students. Good food will be provided.

The first session is March 10th; the last one is May 5th. Those completing the program will receive documentation/certification that they have participated. This is also the kind of thing that would look GREAT on a resume! For my course's purposes, students who complete at least 6 of the sessions will receive 35 extra credit points. However, I will not award partial credit for attending some - it's do almost all of them or nothing.

In addition to the rewards of (a) extra credit, (b) plentiful food, (c) a resume builder, and (d) a workshop completion certificate, you will also be blessed with (e) seeing my smiling face each Wednesday night, (f) enjoying yourselves - I promise!, and (g) gaining a heightened awareness of issues pertaining to violence, masculinity, sexuality, and all that other juicy stuff! This isn't like a class - it's an experience!
